About Flightpath107

Cannabis for a better life

It started with one pilot trying to make sense of the Part 107, and turned into the passion project, Flightpath107.

Back in 2020:

A few years ago, I got very curious about drones. During the good ole’ days of 2020 when we were stuck inside, I would put on nature videos of drone shots around the world. As I’d relax and watch, it dawned on me how much I would love to have a side-gig pursuit of my own, that would be monetized, doing something similar. I mean, I love nature, I love travel, I love putting together things that feel beautiful. As I looked into how to do that practically speaking, I also started looking into the entire drone field landscape itself. And what I found inspired me.

This Opened Up My Eyes:

The many fields and industries that aerial drone technology is able to support, is astounding! And in ways that are truly helpful to the planet, as well. An aerial view provides a gamut of new opportunities and ways to solve problems a ground-view otherwise can’t provide. Think infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, conservation efforts, and creative cinematic art.

And the numbers show the truth behind this amazing technology expanding in many fields. The commercial drone industry in the U.S. projected to more than double from $12.5B in 2025 to over $31B by 2030. When you do the math, that’s a 40% increase within 5 years.

Getting Certified to Fly:

That being said, in order for any individual to fly drones commercially, they have to pass an exam with the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), to get what is called, FAA Part 107 Certified. This is a federal law in the United States. Without a Part 107 license, drone flights are limited to hobby use only.

In 2024, nearly 70,000 people in the United States became FAA-certified drone operators by taking and passing this Part 107 exam. To earn the certification, the FAA requires a passing score on a 60-question, in-person, proctored exam.

Where Flightpath107 comes in:

Flightpath107 is a Masterclass prep-course for the FAA’s Part 107 exam. The masterclass provides student with 60 lesson modules across 6 sections. It features practice quizzes on every lesson, and unlimited FAA-style practice exams. The course was intentionally designed for students who learn best through viewing visual aids to understand complex topics, and is taught through real-life drone flight scenarios.
